FAQ

How are AUUM omega-3s digested sublingually?

Humans have an enzymes in the mouth to digest fat. This enables infants to digest omega-3s in mothers milk. AUUM mammalian omega-3s have the same omega-3 structure as mothers milk.

What are the different types of omega-3s?

Docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is an essential building block of the brain, eyes and peripheral nerves. It is especially important for the development of infants visual and motor skills. AUUM omega-3s are an excellent source of DHA.

Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) resolves inflammation and supports cardiovascular function. Clinical research has shown that people who consume high amounts of EPA are less prove to inflammatory conditions.

Docosapentaenoic acid (DPA) is found in AUUM omega-3s and not fish oil. DPA is an important omega-3 for resolving inflammation and supporting healthy cell membranes. DPA can be converted to either EPA or DHA depending on what the body requires.

Alpha Linolenic acid (ALA) is most effective when the body converts it to EPA; however, this process is ~1-5% efficient. ALA is found in the leafy greens, wild plants and seeds.

Why does AUUM only manufacture omega-3s? Don't you need omega-6 and omega-9?

The human body can make all of the fats it needs except omega-3 and omega-6 fats, and therefore we must get them from supplements or food. Our body can make omega-9 fats and therefore they do not need to be our supplements.

The current dietary practices of Western countries provides more than enough omega-6 fats in food. In fact, research shows an our population is consuming more than 20x the amount of omega-6 compared to omega-3. The optimal ratio is 5:1 or less. The high intake of omega-6 and low intake of omega-3s  has been linked to inflammatory conditions and the development of different diseases. As a result, AUUM produces only the highest quality omega-3 supplements.

Are AUUM omega-3s safe for me and my children?

Yes! AUUM products are safe for adults and children. Many parents use AUUM products to support the health of their children and we have satisfied customers of all ages.

Why does AUUM include vitamin D3 in its products?

Vitamin D3 is an essential fat soluble vitamin, that is especially important for mental health! Many North Americans and Europeans do not get enough sun exposure to maintain adequate blood vitamin D levels year round. AUUM omega-3s allow your body to digest high-quality vitamin D3 sublingually.

Where does AUUM source its omega-3s?

AUUM omega-3s are sustainably harvested from wild harp seals in Newfoundland.

I heard the seal population is declining and at risk?

The Atlantic seal population has actually increased over the past 10 years. The annual seal harvest is well below the quota set by the Ministry of Fisheries and Oceans.  All seal harvesting in regulated by the Ministry to ensure that the seal population is healthy for future generations.
